To All Deviants:
A few journals ago I wrote about this annoying girl on ebay who asked me not to sign the next piece she commissioned. (Again, it's in a place that can't be seen when displayed, so it's not in the way.) But I said "fuck that" and ignored her. Well get a load of this;
She has been relentlessly emailing my ebay account for about 9 months now. I stopped responding to her after 2 months. I still read her emails, but I never respond. In her email that I received last night she asked if I was mad at her for selling the piece she had commissioned. As it turns out, she CLAIMED MY WORK as her own and re-sold it on ebay. It all made sense, THAT'S why she didn't want me to sign my work.
I can't stress enough to sign your work no matter what people say.
Not everyone is an art thief, but if you're selling your work you're bound to come across an idiot at some point.

SIGN YOUR WORK
BE PROUD OF YOUR WORK.

Ignore it. It doesn’t matter at all. She didn’t steal your skills, or your reputation. Remember that you are still capable of doing awesome stuff and the best thing she managed to come up with is reselling your work. I used (and still do sometimes) to publish my stuff anonymously (not sculpture-related) and I occasionally met people who claimed they were the authors. And that actually didn’t matter because the speculation kept going and it was really entertaining to observe.

To be honest with you, I know that they can erase the signed work and re-sign it if they really wanted, but I guess there is always people like this... but is still good that you got payed. To make you feel better, just try to ignore what you sell after, sometimes is better this way, even though is really frustrating, and coat your signature with 3 or 4 coats of clear XD, so it makes them harder to change anything on what you sign.
